Long Distance it is!!

It’s one of the toughest tasks to maintain a long distance relationship. And if you see a person around you with a successful long distance relationship, please give him/her a Grand Salute from my side. Thanks to the developing technology that now we at least know whether or aren’t in a relationship yet, i.e. the current status of the relationship. Unlike in the era when all we had were Letters and telegrams. Where, only the count of flower petals could convince you about the power of your love. Ahhh! How would our lives be if there were no phones, emails, internet, video calling. How would the love survive at a distance of oceans apart?

Well, now that we’ve overcome one of the problems with communication, we’ve many others yet to be dealt. It’s not only about informing the other person. It is about communicating as though you were really there with your lover. And here my friend is the challenge. However good you may be in communication skills with your boss and client, if you are not good with your lover you cannot survive this challenge.
There are various kinds of relationships then, stating few of them:

  • ·         Introvert-Introvert

These kinds of relationships are bad, but have a good chance to survive the challenge. Both of them spend most of the time on phones. They are like Disney character Cinderella; in the night at some particular time they start running towards their rooms/homes. And then you can consider them dead until next morning. Such people are worst kind of friends. You plan to watch FIFA match with them, and correct at 11PM, wooooosh.. They are gone. Magic!!

  • ·         Extrovert-Extrovert

They are cool kind of people. Fun to be around, as they are committed you can also flirt around with them; and yet don’t have to worry about them falling for you. They too have a good chance of successfully clearing the challenge. Good thing about them is that both have lots of friends and they know how one can be busy. They experience things and understand each other’s perspective. Only problem might occur is when they actually become careless towards each other and might start taking the relation for granted.
  • ·         Introvert-Extrovert

OK! So these are those dangerous ones. Where the extrovert either has to change and compromise (try and turn into The Cinderella couple), or he/she ends up hurting the Introvert one badly. See, I am here enjoying and lolling around with friends. But there, on the other hand, the introvert partner is expecting a call, because he/she can open up only to you. This kind of relationship has higher chances to turn bad.

Long distance relationships need hard work and determination. Not only with lover, but with parents too you have to go through the same issues. One of the keys for surviving the long distance relationship is that make sure, you and your partner both have lots of friends, and make sure they are good ones. Possessiveness is for those who have less belief in themselves. So lay back and enjoy the sweet pain of distance.

PS: Suggesting my favorite song here to you: “Abhi Nahi Aana Sajna” by Sona Mohapatra.
